2014年7月，《See You Again》制作人之一的查理·普斯在听到演员保罗·沃克去世的消息后，因为联想到自己有一位好友，跟保罗·沃克一样也是在车祸中丧生，所以他当时就想把这首歌曲写出来，为的是献给每一位曾心灵受创的人，让他们有所慰藉。该歌曲仅用时十分钟便创作完成，查理·普斯在创作过程中只是弹着钢琴，自然而然地就唱出了“It’s Been a Long Day”，并写下这段基本的歌词，将歌曲命名为《See You Again》。之后，查理·普斯在多次改动下才将《See You Again》创作完成
